The youngest of six children, Linda Granger (and her twin sister) were born in Kodiak, Alaska while her father was serving in the US Coast Guard. At two years old Linda’s family moved to California, where Linda attended San Leandro’s Public schools and graduated from San Leandro High School. She (and her twin sister) were the first in the family to attend four-year college. 

Linda earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Boston College and her teaching credential from Holy Names College. Linda began teaching entrepreneurship and marketing at her alma mater, San Leandro High School, while continuing her education, earning a master’s degree in economics from Cal State Hayward, and her Tier 1 and Tier 2 Administrative Credentials from Cal State East Bay.  

As soon as she started teaching, she knew she had found the right career path. She was fortunate to teach in one of the first California Partnership Academy programs approved by the state of California. Teaching the same cohort of students for three years enabled her to see how education impacts students and their future. Throughout her 31 years of service in public education, as a site administrator, district administrator, and superintendent, Linda remained focused on developing and maintaining systems that enable students to succeed. She believes the purpose of education is to prepare students to become productive members of society.  

In addition to her work in K-12 public education, Linda is an elected trustee for the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. As a trustee, she has remained focused on developing and maintaining systems that support student success, focusing on a culture that fosters diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging; and expanding opportunities that support workforce development and skillset advancement, all while navigating through a pandemic that resulted in a 20% decline in enrollment in which the district has recovered, and a transition to a new statewide funding model that was unfavorable to the district. Under Linda’s leadership, the Board managed the district through the pandemic without laying off any staff and remained focused on supporting our students.
